​Yoga History: How Yoga Came to the World Stage

Current yoga instructor are eligible to receive 4 contact CEU hours awarded through Yoga Alliance.

Have you ever wondered how yoga spread from India across the rest of the world? In this workshop, we will discuss the beginnings of yoga in the Indus Valley all the way to yoga’s migration to the west. This a four-hour workshop designed to bring better awareness of the amazing history of the Indian sub-continent and how the spread of yoga has changed the world.

We will cover in detail the pre-classical, classical, post-classical, and modern periods in yoga history. We will also discuss some of the current challenges the yoga community faces including cultural appropriation, accessibility and commodification.


Who should attend this workshop:
  • It is open to all. However, you will get the most from the workshop if you have some yoga experience.
  • 200-Hour and 500-hour yoga instructors.
