Pranayama is the art and science of yogic breathing techniques. It is the practice of breathing consciously in order to create a strong life force. You can optimize your well-being, realize clarity, develop stillness and cultivate contentment through the use of Pranayama.
Pranayama is an essential practice on the Eight-Limb yogic path and developing a solid relationship with the breath is beneficial to a healthy life on and off the mat.
However, learning how, when, and why to use these breathing practices can be a little overwhelming. This one-day workshop is designed to help you better understand the anatomy and structural mechanics of breathing as well as how to teach breath practices in a yoga class and how to enhance your own personal Pranayama practice.
The morning session covers the yogic philosophy of breath and the anatomical aspects of breath. The afternoon session will be experiential. We will discuss several techniques and explore their impact on asana and meditation practices.
